Welcome to all the things that Critters View ...

This is my first, well, okay second shot at building a website, and on these pages you'll find my opinion on everything from Writing to Movies to some of the Best Places to visit on the web.  I'm just another critter trying to make her way in this world and my goal in building this site is two fold. First to entertain and inform, and second to promote my work.  I sincerely hope I've accomplished both. Please do not hesitate to drop me a line with your comments, if you have the time.

About me ...

I'm a thirty-something, full-time writer, part-time student, and stay-at-home mom to a dog, a cat, and a duck (or rather a cat named Duckworth).  I spend my days finishing short stories and two novels, and my nights catering to a myriad of furry whims and neurotic eccentricities. In between the chaos, I also workout, watch movies, and take the occasional walk around the picturesque Princeton University campus.  While I don't claim to know everything, I do have my opinions so reader beware ... and enjoy.

Critters View Blog

I am a little more reliable when it comes to keeping a blog than I am at keeping up my website, so wander over to Blogger and take a look.

A Crittersview Life in Pictures

I'm trying out Flickr as a way to post photographs instead of using a dedicated photo page on this site. I'll be adding to it frequently until I get everything uploaded that I want so stop by often and take a look.

Unfair Visa Regulation

While this might be a strange section to put on the first page of a website, I want to draw attention to what I think is one of the most asinine visa regulations.  My husband and I are Canadians living in the US on H1B visas.  He is a chemist and does research and I, by virtue of being his wife, am legally a non-entity.  I am not allowed to work. I am restricted as far as what volunteer positions I can take. I cannot vote, and I do not receive a Social Security Number, which means no credit rating, awkward situations at doctors' offices and hospitals, and always being classified as an international student (higher tuition).  In point of fact, prisoners in jail have more rights than I do.  We pay the same tax rate as everyone who is "legally" in the country. We don't send all of our money off-shore like many immigrants. We own a house, drive cars, etc., yet we are restricted to forever being a single income family - a fact that precludes us from enjoying many of the same things other American's do.  And why???  The best reason I have been given is, to protect American jobs for American workers. I wonder if anyone has told that to the illegals?
